Solomons is located at the southern tip of Calvert County. In the 19th century, shipyards developed there to support local fishing. In the War of 1812, Commodore Joshua Barney’s flotilla sailed from here to attack British vessels on the Chesapeake Bay. Solomons is a lovely spot with a walkable boardwalk right on the Patuxent River, water-view restaurants, marinas and shops. Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center can be found here as well as the Calvert Marine Museum and Drum Point Lighthouse, highlighting maritime history.
