Join us for a relaxed social and dinner at Monocacy Village Park on Friday at 4:00 pm!

Whether you’re a seasoned birder with a life list longer than your arm or just starting to notice the fascinating avian world around us, this is the perfect opportunity to connect, chat, and maybe even learn about some new local hotspots! This social and dinner is sponsored by The Canopy Family, Panama.

Location: the picnic pavilion at Monocacy Village Park, located at 409 Delaware Road, Frederick, MD 21701
Time: 4:00 – 9:00 pm
Cost for Dinner: $12/person for pizza from Pistarro’s and Pasquale’s (to purchase your meal, please visit our Registration page)
Beer/wine: BYOB; please bring your own cooler with adult beverages and a reusable water bottle for water refills. Scroll down for more information about consuming alcohol in Monocacy Village Park. Recycling will be available thanks to the City of Frederick Office of Sustainability.
Hors d’oeuvres: complimentary vegetable and fruit plates and light snacks

Please note: On August 7th, MOS received formal permission from the Frederick City Council to consume alcohol in Monocacy Village Park on Sept. 26. The event will be BYOB. MOS is not authorized to sell alcohol at the park. If you want to enjoy wine, beer or a canned cocktail with dinner, we encourage you to bring your own cooler with adult beverages. MOS will be responsible for making certain that all laws regarding the consumption of alcohol are followed. Please be prepared to show your ID when you arrive at Monocacy Village Park, and please drink responsibly.



After a fun day of birding, we invite you to join us at 4:00 pm at the picnic pavilion in Monocacy Village Park, located at 409 Delaware Road, Frederick, MD 21701.

4:00 – 5:00 pm: Social

Starting at 4:00 pm, bring a camp chair and a cooler for our social. This is a BYOB event, so bring your favorite adult beverages to enjoy responsibly. We’ll have plenty of good company and great food. MOS will provide complimentary vegetable and fruit plates and light snacks before dinner. We will also have an Igloo cooler with ice-cold water. Please bring your own reusable water bottle for a refill, as we are working to reduce our plastic bottle use.

5:00 – 7:00 pm: Pizza Picnic & Bonnie Borsa Bench Dedication

Between 5:00 – 5:30 pm, we’ll have delicious pizza delivered from two local Frederick restaurants, Pistarro’s and Pasquale’s. The cost for the pizza dinner is $12/person.

At 6:00 pm, we will dedicate a bench in memory of Bonnie Borsa, MOS Past-President. For more information about the bench dedication, please click here.

Vegetarian and vegan pizzas will be available, but 100% gluten-free pizza will not be available. For those with dietary restrictions, we encourage you to bring your own meal. These are the pizza choices:

  • Cheese
  • Pepperoni
  • Caprese
  • Vegan Margherita (tomato sauce/vegan mozzarella/basil/ evoo v.e.g.)
  • Vegan Marinara (tomato sauce/roasted garlic oil/dry oregano/basil v.e.g.)
  • Bakery Cookies for dessert

We will wrap up before 9:00 pm so that everyone can get some rest for Saturday’s field trips. Special thanks to the City of Frederick Office of Sustainability for helping MOS with recycling and trash at the event.
