Join us for a fantastic evening of food, fun and stories of Chesapeake migrations with Tom Horton!

After your Friday field trips, join us at the DoubleTree by Hilton for an evening featuring a social and cash bar, bidding on raffle and silent auction items, and a buffet dinner. You can mingle with your fellow birders before the evening keynote address featuring Tom Horton.

Location and Schedule

Location: the DoubleTree by Hilton, located at 300 S. Salisbury Blvd., Salisbury, Maryland, 21801
Wine & Cheese Social: 4:00 – 6:00 pm, a cash bar and light hors d’oeuvres will be available
Buffet Dinner: 6:00 – 7:00 pm, cost is $47/person (visit the Registration page to purchase your dinner)
Evening Program: 7:00 – 8:30 pm, featuring Keynote Address by Tom Horton
Beer/wine costs: Beer $5 to $7, Wine $8 to $12 (all prices are subject to 9% alcohol tax and 20% gratuity)

4:00 – 6:00 pm: Wine & Cheese Social

Join your fellow birders in the lobby of the DoubleTree by Hilton to compare notes from your Friday field trips. A cash bar and complimentary light hors d’oeuvres will be available. You can view the species tally boards and bid on items in the Raffle and Silent Auction.

6:00 – 7:00 pm: Buffet Dinner

The buffet dinner will be provided by Savour, the restaurant and event caterer at the DoubleTree. Cost is $47/person (includes the required gratuity). Visit the Registration page to purchase your dinner.

The evening buffet features:

7:00 – 8:30 pm: Keynote Speaker Tom Horton
Program Title: The Chesapeake Migrationshed

Our Keynote Speaker for Friday, Sept. 25 will be Tom Horton. Tom has been writing about the Chesapeake Bay for more than half a century. More recently, he has been making films on the nation’s greatest estuary. Tom is a native of Salisbury, MD, where he lives. He continues to write a monthly column for the Bay Journal, Chesapeake Born.

After years of teaching a Chesapeake Bay course at Salisbury University, Tom began adding to the fundamental concept of the Bay’s watershed, a larger overlay that he calls the ‘migrationshed.’

Tom will share his insights about all the comings and goings of fish and fowl that wove the Chesapeake into a hemispheric ecosystem. He will also show a film that resulted from his observations on migration.
