The Maryland Ornithological Society (MOS) welcomes members and non-members to register for the 72nd annual MOS Convention, which will be held at Washington College in Chestertown, MD from May 31 to June 2, 2019.

The MOS Convention is a great time to meet and socialize with other birders as you explore the incredible birding opportunities on the upper Delmarva Peninsula between the Chesapeake and Delaware Bays. More than 35 field trips have been planned for the convention, and all are lead by expert guides. Field trips take place within a 1.5-hour drive from Chestertown, and include well-known birding hotspots such as Eastern Neck National Wildlife Refuge, Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge and the Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center. Special all-day trips have been planned for Saturday, including Lister’s Trips in Kent and Queen Anne’s Counties designed to maximize your species tally.

In addition to the field trips, there will be afternoon seminars, a Friday afternoon session with the Maryland DNR Raptor Roundup program, posters, vendors, a photo contest, and incredible raffle prizes that include high-end optics, books, and bird-feeding packages. On Friday night, registered attendees are invited to attend the keynote address featuring Jeffrey Gordon, President of the American Birding Association. For each MOS convention, a pin is designed and created and given to each participant. Pin designs are selected by competition and are highly treasured convention souvenirs.

You don’t need to be a member of the Maryland Ornithological Society to register, but you are invited to join at www.MDbirds.org. To register for the convention, please visit https://mdbirds.org/join/annual-conference/registration/. After you have registered for the convention, all field trips are free (except Adkins Arboretum, which has a $5 admission fee). You must register online for each field trip you wish to attend at https://mdbirds.org/join/annual-conference/field-trip-signup/.

The basic registration for the convention is $60 per person, and additional fees are charged if you wish to stay and eat at Washington College. You can register for the convention, select your meal plan and on-campus lodging on the website. Payment for convention registration, meal plan, and on-site lodging are handled via PayPal account or directly with a credit card and is integrated with the MOS website. Attendees will receive a webpage confirming convention registration, which should be printed.

There is something for everyone at the 72nd annual MOS Convention! We hope to see you in Chestertown May 31 through June 2. Register now as trips are filling up fast!
